Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about local storage, installation, clocks, equations, pictures, backups, alarms, and updates.

Where is my Analog Math Clock data stored?

Clock definitions, preferences, custom equations, and alarms are stored in this browser on this device. Uploaded clock-face pictures are stored in the browser's local IndexedDB storage. Analog Math Clock does not upload this information to an application account or cloud database.

Does Analog Math Clock work offline?

Yes. Open the app online once so its files can be cached. Clocks, customization, learning mode, alarms while the app remains open, image export, and locally available backups can then work offline.

How do I install it on an iPhone or iPad?

Open Analog Math Clock in Safari, tap Share, choose Add to Home Screen, and tap Add. If Open as Web App appears, turn it on before adding the app.

How do I install it on Android?

Open Analog Math Clock in Chrome, open the browser menu, and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.

How do multiple clocks and time zones work?

Select Add clock, give the clock a name, and choose a time zone. Each clock keeps its own appearance, equations, sounds, alarms, and time-zone details. The first clock follows the device's local system time.

Why do the equations change?

Every clock position has a pool of equations that equals that hour. Analog Math Clock chooses each position independently, so refreshing or selecting New equations creates a different combination instead of repeating a fixed group.

Can I add my own equations?

Yes. Open Tools, add an equation for a clock position, and optionally include a short explanation. Turn on Include my equations when randomizing to mix them with the built-in equation pools.

What does Equation learning mode do?

Learning mode makes each equation selectable. Tap or focus an equation to see its value and a short explanation.

How are clock-face pictures handled?

Pictures selected from your device remain in local browser storage. You can adjust their position, zoom, opacity, and readability overlay. They are included when you export a full .mathclock backup.

How do I back up or move all of my clocks?

Open Tools and select Export backup. Save the .mathclock file locally or in a cloud file service, then use Restore backup on another device. Merge adds restored clocks to existing ones; Replace recreates the backup.

Will alarms and chimes work when the app is closed?

Alarms and hourly chimes are reliable while Analog Math Clock is open. Phones may suspend or stop a closed web app, so exact background alarm delivery cannot be guaranteed. Browser notifications are best-effort and require permission.

What does Keep the screen awake do?

On supported devices, it requests a screen wake lock while Analog Math Clock is visible. Browsers may release the wake lock when the app is hidden or the device enters a power-saving state.

Can I save a clock as an image?

Yes. Use a clock's action menu to export its face as PNG or SVG. The decorative outer clock body is not included in the current image export.

How do updates work?

When an update has downloaded, Analog Math Clock displays A new version is available. Select Update and Restart when convenient. Locally stored clocks and preferences remain in place.

Why am I still seeing an older version?

Connect to the internet and open the app in the browser. If no update notice appears, close the installed app completely, reopen the website in Safari or Chrome, and then launch the installed app again.

How do I share feedback or report a problem?

Use the Feedback section in Tools or open the GitHub feedback form. Do not attach a .mathclock backup or a private clock-face picture to a public issue.
